What It's Like to Work Together
We won't do a rigid, formal photoshoot where everyone has to freeze and look perfectly at the camera. The experience is just as important as the captured memories. The goal is to combine my southern style with my professionalism to capture what your family actually feels like—the real laughs, the spontaneous hugs, and the genuine, unscripted connections.
We will keep our sessions entirely relaxed and fun, especially when we're out by the water. Getting everyone ready for photos can be little chaotic, but the moment you step into the light with me, you can take a deep breath. We are just here to tell your story.
Why I Do What I Do
This passion runs deep for me. When I was about 9 or 10, my mother would buy me disposable cameras, saving up what she could to get them developed. We would laugh and smile over the prints and moments. When Hurricane Katrina hit, many of those precious memories were washed away. But that did not wash away my love for this craft.
Fast-forward to today. Having lost so many of my own childhood photos, I know exactly how vital it is to protect the present. Now, I have the chance to capture your moments in time. Let’s create beautiful, light-filled images of your life’s most meaningful chapters—moments that will warm your heart for decades to come.
Chasing the Sun: How I’ve Grown As a Photographer
Several years ago, Maegan and Zak Remele took a genuine chance on me. As they prepared to move their business to Virginia, they trusted me with their clients. At the time, I was holding my very first real camera, terrified of messing up.
But Maegan didn’t just hand me gear; she gave me direction. She taught me to trust and find the light, and insisted I keep my warm, hilarious personality at the center of every shoot. Soon, the reviews started coming in. Clients shared that I was down-to-earth, great with their kids, and excelled at putting everyone at ease—and they loved the final images.
Serving as an associate shooter taught me true humility. I realized a photographer doesn’t need to be in the spotlight; our job is to find the spotlight and shine it on others. People love a great experience just as much as a great photo.
Today, I mix professionalism with a southern gentleman’s charm to capture not just the light, but your heart. Thanks to Maegan and Zak’s trust and training, that nervous beginner is gone. I am now the proud owner of my own licensed and insured business, Southern Sunrunner Studios. The fear is long gone—now, I’m just out here truly chasing the sun to capture your perfect moments.
